FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NOVEMBER 19, 2018
Trying to provide a quality Thanksgiving meal for 13 homes and 3 apartment complexes is a task that does not come easy. Living in these homes are foster youth ages 16–24 who may not have a family to celebrate the holidays. On Saturday, November 17, 2018, The Links—San Jose Chapter opened their arms to over 50 attendees with the help of Cake4Kids and the LDS Church. From 12:30pm–2:30pm, all of Unity Care’s transitional age foster youth were invited to a Thanksgiving feast.
“This year was a very special one for me….I met Fernando and I was immediately “smitten” by him! He was so happy that we were providing lunch for him and his sister! These are the moments that drill down in my heart the commitment to continue getting the clients young, and older to have a day to smile about!” — Jan White, The Links San Jose Chapter.
The day ended with reading what youth were thankful for:
“I am thankful for my family because they take me places where I want to go” — Fernando
“I am thankful for my food that my mom gives us” — Paulina
“Friends…health…home…job…co-workers…”
