Santa’s Helper Donation Drive Seeks Gifts to Support Vulnerable Foster Youth and Families

As the Holiday Season approaches, many of Unity Care’s youth who are separated from their families are often left with a feeling of sadness and abandonment.

Unity Care aims to brighten their Holiday Season through the Santa’s Helper donation drive. Unfortunately, program funds do not provide for special events such as this; therefore, the agency is asking the community to help bring a little warmth and happiness to a young person’s Holiday Season by making a child’s wish come true.

André Chapman said, “Most of us take the Holiday Season for granted, and we do not realize how difficult it is for our foster youth and families.  We as a community need to step up and show that they are not forgotten, that they are not alone and that we do care.  I have faith that our community will step up to the challenge to meet their needs.  There are so many simply ways you can help, so please take a moment to make a gift online at  www.unitycare.org or by contacting us.”

Currently, Unity Care has numerous programs serving over 250 current/former foster youth and families that are in need. We are accepting cash as well as in-kind gift cards and household donations to help brighten our youth’s Holiday Season.

Your gift will support the following programs:

  1. Residential Treatment Home (Foster Youth Ages 11-18)
  2. Independent Living Program (Current and Former Foster Youth Ages 16-21)
  3. RISE (Reaching Independence through Sustainable Employment/Education) (Current and Former Foster Youth Ages 16-21)
  4. Transitional Housing Placement Plus (THP Plus) (Former Foster Youth Ages 18-24)
  5. The Nia Project (Supporting African American Families)
  6. Wraparound (Strength-Based Program supporting Families)

The agency is collecting cash, or in-kind gift cards of $25.00 or more, as well as household goods such as bedding, dinnerware, toiletries, clothing, etc.  Cash donations can be made online at www.unitycare.org.
