San Jose, Calif. September 21, 2017 – eBay recently launched eBay Days of Color, a month-long celebration of the company’s purpose-driven heritage. Throughout the campaign, their approximately 13,000 employees are selling, buying, and giving through the eBay platform to support select nonprofit partners around the world. Unity Care has been selected by eBay’s headquarters team as their Bay Area designated charity in recognition of Unity Care’s innovative efforts to fill the lives of foster youth and families with opportunity and well-being.
“eBay has a distinguished history of empowering nonprofits and inspiring charitable giving. We’re honored that eBay is supporting the important work we’re doing with our community’s most vulnerable youth,” said André Chapman, Unity Care’s founder and CEO.
Local eBay employees are supporting Unity Care by selling items on eBay and donating their proceeds; buying and selling items from Unity Care’s wish list, including laptops, housewares, and new bedding; and donating their time and expertise through volunteer events. Proceeds help Unity Care advance their mission of improving the lives of underserved and foster youth. And wish-list donations provide much needed essentials to Unity Care clients.
“Peninsula-based eBay teams are also scheduled to volunteer for a Beautification Day of Service at our recently acquired South San Francisco house,” stated Debra Beal, Unity Care’s Development and Community Relations Manager. The renovation, which will take place on September 29, will include new paint, landscaping, and upgrades to the furnishings and décor. “eBay’s contribution will transform our teen boys’ house into a home. That means the world to our youth, many of whom have been bounced around and often miss the warmth and comfort that we take for granted,” added Beal.
