San Jose, Calif. (April 12, 2018) –
Unity Care, a non-profit serving Bay Area foster youth and families, is proud to unveil a home revitalization project completed in partnership with the Housing Industry Foundation (HIF). Unity Care’s Unity Place apartment complex, which houses transitional age, former foster youth and their children, has undergone a major transformation thanks to the generosity of HIF and affiliated local builders and industry professionals.
A Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony showcasing the impact of this revitalization will take place Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. Local business leaders and community partners are invited to tour the newly completed work and hear a few words of thanks delivered by State Senator Jim Beall.
Over the past several weeks, HIF has mobilized nearly a dozen industry partners who donated labor and materials to renovate the 12-unit apartment complex located in the Willow Glen neighborhood, serving transitional age youth. Improvements include: new double-pane windows, complete exterior painting, new laundry room flooring, updated landscaping, Tuff Shed installation, and new exterior signage. Industry partners involved in these projects included: AquaTek Plumbing, Inc., Benchmark, Danny Gaines Photography, Empire Painting, GB Group, Home Depot, Kelly Moore Paints, Medallion Landscape, ProFloors, Prometheus Real Estate Group, and VPI Quality Windows.
This is not the first time our friends at HIF have rallied the troops to beautify one of our foster youth homes. Unity Care has a long-standing partnership with HIF and their affiliated industry service professionals. In response to HIF’s recent contribution, Senator Beall said, “We are so grateful for HIF’s ongoing support and the impact their generosity has made on our local youth. The kindness they show has a ripple effect, bringing joy and vitality into the lives of the many young adults and small children who call Unity Place ‘home.’”
Unity Care Founder and CEO, André Chapman, explained the significance of these home revitalization projects saying, “Having a beautiful and comfortable home to live in empowers our teenagers by enabling them to focus on their school work and improves their physical, emotional and mental well-being. The impact is tremendous, and you can see it on our children’s smiling faces.”
