Hip Hop 360 Safe Summer Dance Performance and Urban Art Exhibition

Unity Care’s Hip Hop 360 program is proud to announce the successful completion of its Safe Summer dance and urban art workshops. Program participants as well as local artists and dancers will be displaying their talents for parents and other community members at a completion celebration being held on Thursday, August 6, 2009 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Alum Rock Youth Center located at 137 N. White Road in San Jose, CA 95127. Admission is free and is also open to the public.

The special celebration will be the culmination of a successful eight week program funded by the City of San Jose’s Safe Summer Initiative. The highly popular program offered children and teens a chance to develop and enhance their creative expression skills while participating in safe and positive summertime activities. In addition, participants were taught character building assets such as goal setting and effective anger management and incorporated those components into their creative urban art and dance projects.

Participants worked together to create a choreographed break-dance routine, which they will perform at the completion celebration. Program participants will also showcase an urban-themed mural which was designed and created collectively as a group.
