André Chapman Receives Top Ten Community Dads Award

San Jose, Calif., (June 8, 2011)  André Chapman, Founder and CEO of Unity Care, has been chosen to receive the prestigious 2011 Top Ten Community Dads Award.  The award is given annually to ten prominent community leaders in recognition of their long-standing commitment to their families, and to the children and families of Silicon Valley.

Mr. Chapman said, “This award has a very special place my heart, and I feel blessed to be nominated by Jamar Butler and selected by Building Peaceful Families’ to receive this award.  Each and every day I come to work, I am reminded of how vital it is to have fathers or a parental figure in our children’s lives.  The unfortunate lack of parental support is also a powerful factor in determining the success or failure of thousands of foster children living in our own backyards.  This is why I feel blessed to be able to work with such a dedicated team of staff who work tirelessly to give our children the support they need to flourish into contributing members of society.”

In addition to the top ten prominent leaders, the event will also honor 50 fathers living in Silicon Valley whose children have written heartwarming essays about why their fathers/father figures should receive a Top Dads Award.  The community event is sponsored by Building Peaceful Families, the Santa Clara County Office of Education, and the San Francisco 49ers.

The award will be presented during the Top Dads Celebration Luncheon on Friday, June 10th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the San Jose Airport Garden Hotel (1740 North First Street, San Jose).  For more event information, please visit Building Peaceful Families at www.buildingpeacefulfamilies.org.
