FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 15, 2019
San Jose, Calif. — Unity Care is happy to announce that the agency received a three-year in-kind office space grant renewal valued at $97,524 annually from the Sobrato Family Foundation. The Sobrato Family Foundation grant allows Unity Care to maintain its headquarters and operations at the Sobrato Center for Nonprofits in San Jose.
With support from the Sobrato Family Foundation, Unity Care will be able to focus funds on expanding essential housing and quality services to foster youth and families throughout Northern California. The agency’s signature program provides safe, secure, and affordable housing for foster youth who age out of foster care. One new home for foster youth is opening in Roseville and another is set to open in the Spring. Youth in Unity Care’s housing programs are able to focus on their educational and employment goals while receiving mental health services to help cope and heal from trauma.
Unity Care is proud to have had the Sobrato Family Foundation’s support for over a decade. Our partnership has helped thousands of foster youth throughout Northern California find stability onto a path to self-sufficiency after aging out of foster care.
“We are proud to support the work of Unity Care Group, and our 75 nonprofit tenant partners, through in-kind office space. Like the clients they serve, our nonprofit partners are being displaced due to the high cost of Silicon Valley real estate. By providing sustainable office space, we want to ensure that community-based organizations can continue to provide critical services in our region.” Rick Williams, CEO
