San Jose, Calif. October 3, 2017 – Unity Care has finalized its acquisition of San Francisco-based MAC’s Children & Family Services to provide high quality, integrated housing programs for current and former foster youth in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties. The acquisition increases Unity Care’s already expansive housing offerings, and provides transitional housing and short term residential treatment for an additional 49 youth.

San Francisco Chief Juvenile Probation Officer Allen Nance stated, “The future just got a bit brighter for Bay Area teens and transitional-aged youth who strive for independence and opportunities to take those important first steps into adulthood. They now have these amazing resources in Unity Care where they will find outstanding advocacy, guidance, professional care, and a partner committed to their well-being.”

“Partnering with Unity Care allows us to accomplish our critical objective of providing culturally appropriate housing and mental health services to the hundreds of foster youth who are served annually by MAC’s,” stated Mary Ann Carpenter, CEO and founder of MAC’s Children & Family Services. Mrs. Carpenter and her husband, co-founder and COO, Prince Edmonds are looking forward to seeing Unity Care continue to expand and enhance the programs that they have lovingly built over the last 25 years.

San Francisco’s Deputy Director of Family & Children’s Services Sylvia Deporto commented, “We have had a long standing excellent relationship with MAC’s and are excited about the opportunity to now have Unity Care serve our youth through this acquisition. Unity Care has an excellent reputation for serving youth of color and we look forward to the enhancements they bring to these services.”

“Unity Care feels privileged to expand our housing and mental health services throughout the greater bay area, and we look forward to serving the youth and families of San Francisco and San Mateo Counties” said André Chapman, Unity Care founder and CEO.
